Calorie Tracker

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Calorie Tracker (“the app”) is an Android app made by ThinkFlow (“we”, “us”), built so that your diary stays yours. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.

1. Data stored on your phone

Your profile (sex, age, height, weight, goal), food diary, custom foods, water, weigh-ins and settings are stored in a database on your phone. They are not sent anywhere unless you turn on one of the optional features below. Android may include this database in your own Google device backup if device backup is enabled.

2. Optional features that use the internet

  • Cloud backup (requires sign-in). What is sent: A copy of your diary, foods, weights, profile and settings, plus your email address for sign-in. To whom: Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore). When: Only after you sign in; on Back up, and automatically when you leave the app if auto-backup is on
  • AI food photos. What is sent: The food photo you choose. To whom: Our backend (Google Cloud Functions), which forwards it to Anthropic (Claude) for analysis. When: Only when you take or choose a photo and AI mode is available. Photos are not stored by the app's backend.
  • AI food photos with your own key. What is sent: The food photo you choose. To whom: Anthropic (Claude), directly from your phone. When: Only if you enter your own Anthropic API key in the app. The key is stored privately on your phone.
  • Barcode lookup. What is sent: The barcode number. To whom: Open Food Facts. When: Only when a scanned barcode isn't already saved on your phone
  • Crash reports. What is sent: Technical details about crashes (device model, OS version, stack trace). No diary content.. To whom: Google Firebase Crashlytics. When: When the app crashes, unless you turn it off in Settings › Privacy
  • Usage statistics. What is sent: Anonymous events such as “a food was logged” or “a photo was analysed”, without food names, amounts or weights. To whom: Google Analytics for Firebase. When: While using the app, unless you turn it off in Settings › Privacy
  • Notifications. What is sent: A device token for push notifications. To whom: Firebase Cloud Messaging. When: To deliver occasional announcements

We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your diary with anyone for advertising.

3. Health information

Food, calorie, macro, water and weight data is health-related. It is used only to provide the app's features to you. It is never used for advertising or shared with third parties except as described above.

4. Your choices and rights

  • Use without an account. Everything except cloud backup and AI photos through our backend works without signing in.
  • Export. Settings › Your data lets you export everything as a JSON backup or the diary as CSV at any time.
  • Delete on the phone. Settings › Your data › Erase all data deletes everything stored by the app on your phone.
  • Delete your account and cloud copy. Settings › Account › Delete account removes your sign-in and your cloud backup. You can also request deletion by email if you no longer have the app.
  • Turn off analytics and crash reports in Settings › Privacy.

5. Data retention

Cloud backups are kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete them. Daily AI-photo usage counters (a number per day, no photos) are kept for up to 90 days to enforce fair-use limits.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.
