Shiftwheel

Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of Shiftwheel, the Windows file converter made by ThinkFlow. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you get Shiftwheel from the Microsoft Store, the Store's terms also apply. Please also read the Shiftwheel Privacy Policy.

1. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Shiftwheel on devices you own or control, for personal or work use. If you get Shiftwheel from the Microsoft Store, the number of devices and any trial or purchase are governed by your Store licence.

You may not resell, rent or redistribute Shiftwheel or remove its notices, except where the law or an open-source licence described below allows it.

2. Your files and your responsibility

Only convert files you have the right to use. You are responsible for the files you convert and for how you use the results. Shiftwheel is not a tool for removing copy protection and must not be used to infringe anyone's rights.

Converting between formats can reduce quality, remove metadata (such as photo locations or document comments) or change how a file looks. Shiftwheel never changes your originals, but please keep backups of anything important.

3. Open-source components

Shiftwheel includes open-source software, including FFmpeg (licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License) and ImageMagick and Magick.NET (Apache-style licences). Their licences, which give you additional rights for those components, are installed with the app in its licenses folder. LibreOffice, if you install it, is covered by its own licence.

4. Purchases and refunds

Purchases made through the Microsoft Store, and any refunds, are handled by Microsoft under the Store's policies. Nothing in these terms limits refund or consumer rights you have by law.

5. Updates and availability

We may update Shiftwheel to add features, fix problems or keep it working with Windows. We may change or remove features, and we do not promise that every version of Windows or every file format will always be supported.

6. Ownership

ThinkFlow and its licensors keep all rights in Shiftwheel, including its design, icon and name, apart from the open-source components, which belong to their authors.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Shiftwheel is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be error-free or that every conversion will succeed. To the maximum extent allowed by law, ThinkFlow is not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of Shiftwheel. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Shiftwheel changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
